Well this is page 2 of my Goldeneye review. In this section you will find all the information you need on Goldeneye's codes, hints and secrets.
Here are the general stratergies and hints
Introduction
You are Bond. James Bond. Before you await seven deadly missions (made up of 18 stages in all) set in various European factories and hideouts. The game plot essentially follows that of the movie of the same name, wherein Bond must stop the Janus Organization from firing a device upon England that could destroy all computer and electronic records, thus decimating the economy. But simply watching the movie won't help you much here.
Each level has multiple objectives that take some serious strategy to accomplish - simply killing everything in sight won't get the job done. In fact, doing so with an unsilenced barrage of bullets can make the game more difficult since you'll probably alert the guards to your presence. Also be warned that your enemies react to which parts of their bodies are shot (a blow to the leg causes a different death scene than a shot to the torso), so accuracy counts. Moreover, you'll want to think before you shoot or blow up something - mindlessly destroying everything you encounter may cost you the mission.
With that in mind, this guide includes everything a super agent like yourself needs. From basic strategies to weapon info, stage rundowns, and all the game's secret agent secrets, it's all here. And since you're Bond, we know you don't want or need an enemy by enemy walk-through. It's all about improving your game, not ruining it, dig? So, read on.
Now tell me all about the basics.
General Strategies
As in all first-person shooters, the ability to sidestep and strafe your opponents is key. If you don't have this skill down already, you may want to try playing a few multiplayer matches by yourself to become acquainted with it. The side step can be done in GoldenEye by pushing either the left or right yellow C button and firing. Try running around the other player in a circle while shooting him. This will help you immeasurably when facing an enemy in an outdoor level or in a large room.
In the corridor areas and small rooms of GoldenEye however, stealth is the key. One of the best and most useful features that GoldenEye offers is the ability to pick off targets at long range. Like in Shiny's MDK, you can bring up a gun sight to help you execute more accurate shots than normal. In the case of rifles and sniper rifles, your range will boost dramatically. Even at short range this ability is useful, as the player can often shoot through door or cabin windows at opponents. Remember to use the silenced weapons, when possible, so as not to alert the guards to your presence.
Another important skill to have is the ability to duck behind objects or pop around corners. This is done by pulling up the gun sight and holding either the left, right, or down yellow C button. In this way, you can duck enemy fire and then knock off a volley of shots while the bad guys are reloading. It's a skill you will definitely have to hone if you're going to attempt any but the easiest difficulty settings.
By using all three of these strategies, often in tandem, you should be able to excel in the game.
